Deirdre is working towards a position of strength in talking about the beauty of the landscape and of nature, which has a sense of rightness in all its components.
She aims to express a point of view that becomes an increasingly satisfying
and poetic visual experience.
The quality of air is significant in the way she views the landscape,
this leads her to the use of conventional space, and allows the eye of
the viewer to pass through the subject.
Her intention is to extract the moments or intervals in nature that repeat themselves, through subtle variations of tone, and mark-making with rhythmical relationships forming harmonious patterns.
Deirdre studied a Diploma of Painting at Caulfield Technical College
from 1963 until 1966.
