Sunday 12th October, a beautiful day for a ride to Glen Valley and
towards Falls Creek. Only one taker, me.

We (XLV and I) headed for Glen Valley, the country really is dry and
still bare from the fires of 03. Very little traffic, only a few white water
enthusiasts, the river is running well. Signs of rain last night.

At Glen Valley patches of snow on peaks.

First view of the new shed covering the yellow girl plant.

Right, the entry has signage and a grid for easy entry.

Below, sheds and signs look really good, walkbridge instead of old log.

Area neat and weed free.

Machinery looks impressive, steel grates over channel in floor.
Rust over machinery from fire, bits piled together

Track to Maud marked "management vehicles and walkers only"
So I'm a management vehicle---

New bridge over creek.

Building has had some strengthening and repair but mostly unchanged
with rear section completely destroyed.Good signage.

New wooden doors and new downpipes.

So then it was time for lunch, visitors from NSW (Albury)
came in, had a chat.

Rafters on the Mitta, having a ball.

Turnoff to Falls Creek

and up we go

Road goes gravel very quickly so that would have stuffed most
of you anyway, but excellent new surface, its done down to about 5 km
from Omeo Hwy, sign completion date is July09, sealed.

Through the snow gate and on as far as 15km from Falls.

The result of 03 fires is everywhere but the contrast here was
exceptional.

Heading back and just a couple of k's from the Hwy, this view into
Shannonvale.

Back home, great ride, 198km.
